Answer Digital becomes an Employee Owned company

Answer Digital, a leading digital and IT consultancy firm, has just become an employee-owned company and is now majority owned by an Employee Ownership Trust.

Employee ownership trusts provide a great alternative to more traditional mergers and acquisitions. After a successful 20 years working with banking giants, high street names and the public sector, Answer Digital’s future is now in the hands of the employees as the Trust takes on 75% ownership. The move enables Answer Digital to retain it’s fantastic employee-first culture and values as it continues to grow.

Answer Digital has a long track record of investing in its people with over half of the employees alumni of it’s Academy, which was created to nurture the next generation of talent for the company. Ownership empowers every employee, sharing in the success that we’ve built and make our employees feel invested in our continued growth.

Gary Parlett, Founder and Managing Director, said, “We wanted to address the balance between work and reward and unite people behind a common purpose. We are passionate that this is the best route for our business to continue to grow and deliver award-winning solutions."

Typically, employee-owned businesses have higher productivity, greater levels of innovation and are more resilient to economic headwinds. The people that work in them are often more engaged, happier in their jobs and less stressed.

As part of the move, Answer has also joined the Employee Ownership Association. The Employee Ownership Association (EOA) is a not-for-profit and politically independent organisation that represents businesses which are employee owned or transitioning to employee ownership across the UK.

Supporting a diverse network of more than three hundred companies, the EOA works in close partnership with its members to champion, promote and provide insight into the business case for employee ownership, and advocate the place of employee ownership within the UK economy.

Donating over £22k (and counting!) for Byte Night 2018 & 2019!!

We took part in Byte Night (by Action for Children) 2018 and 2019 by sleeping on the streets to help raise money for homeless children and join the fight against youth homelessness.

For the 2nd year in a row we were the largest company with over 20 of our 70 employees taking on the challenge, which is trust testament to our values, culture and people that sit at the heart of what makes Answer Digital unique and successful.

The Challenge: Answer in Lighthouse School makeover

Here's how we have approached a challenge that isn't a business one, but one close to our hearts. Children with autism are often not given every possible opportunity to develop their particular potential. Which is why Lighthouse School in Leeds exists. It is a school specifically and solely for young people aged between 11 and 19 with an autistic spectrum condition (ASC) or a related communication disorder.

It is Yorkshire's first special free school and provides a very personalised and broad education not just covering the National Curriculum but also vocational subjects as well as life, social and communication skills.
